Wendi's Story
Dear PFA'er, For
most of my adult life I have heard people say, "You are so lucky, you
never have to worry about your weight." I would tell them
that was a good thing because I love to eat! I
always believed that if you exercised enough you could eat
anything you wanted. That philosophy worked well for me until I
reached my thirties. Two children, eating on the run and
sporadic workouts finally took their toll. While my weight gain
wasn't huge, I noticed I was gaining about two pounds a year and I
didn't like it at all! My family, friends and coworkers all
thought I was crazy, but clothes hide a lot and I knew the real
story. I tried Atkins and felt terrible, I tried Weight Watchers
and felt crabby and hungry. The minute someone tells me I can't
eat something, I am starving all the time! I needed to find a
program that worked for me. A friend of mine
was doing Body For Life and I decided to look into it. While
doing a search online, I found Physique Transformation and knew I had
found my answer! I found out I was only eating about 1700
calories a day and 20% of that was fat! I had always thought of
myself as a healthy eater, but when I entered my food into the PFA, I
found I had an "F" diet, not an "A"
I found the PFA easy to use and once I got the hang of it was
able to generate an A menu in a matter of minutes. I believe this
program worked for me because I was able to eat the food that I
enjoy. By the end of conditioning I was eating over 2700 calories
each day and had only gained one pound. In spite of the extra
calories, my clothes seemed to fit better! My coworkers were
amazed at the amount of food I was eating and wanted to know how I
could possible lose weight while consuming so much food? I
chose to end my rotation two weeks early even though I was 3 pounds
short of my goal. I made this decision based on my idea of what I
wanted to look like. Even though I hadn't made it to my goal of
125#, I had decreased my bodyfat from 22% to 14.3% at the end of
my 10th week. Despite what the scale said, the mirror told me I
had succeeded
While this program demands a lot of attention to detail and time, it is within anyone's
ability. I have two small children and very little time to
myself, yet I was able to find the time to make the program fit
my lifestyle. Preparing menus and meals ahead of time made it
very easy to stick with the program. In maintenance, I am
finding that I not only learned a lot about food, the information I
learned is ingrained in me now. I can't imagine eating any other
