Steve Dingman's Story...
I
can remember the first time I walked into Precision Fitness (Bart &
Ric's brick and mortar business) and saw the wall with all the before
and after images of people in amazing shape. The after pictures were awesome, but I never realized that these people didn't always look this way. I recognized many of the folks in the photos as people I see around town. So
I asked how did these people get in this great shape? No matter whom I
asked the answer was always the same - BART. Who is BART? He is well known in my circles and the answer was always: Oh, he teaches a nutrition program. I was very curious to find out what he was doing that I wasn't. When
I would see Bart he was always so busy. Then I started working for Bart
at their sports nutrition store and started the nutrition program
myself. WOW! The first 10 days I lost weight but I looked bigger. Increasing my muscle mass naturally is a priority of mine. I've
been a competitive bodybuilder for a few years and I have kept an open
mind trying to learn as much as possible to achieve my goals. After the
first 10 days on the program I was blown away by my energy. My
workouts were the best I've ever had. I never had a bad workout because
my body finally had the fuel it needed to put in a hard training
session. My fear of carbohydrates was gone. The amazing results I was obtaining were achieved consuming 50% or more of my calories from carbs. I
learned so much about food and its importance for health that I was
eating foods that I hadn't had in years. I also started to sleep better
too. Since I had a food plan the rest of my
time was used on more important things rather than worrying about what,
when, and how much I should eat. My bodyweight was the highest ever (in a good way). I wanted muscle and it was coming fast with the same old workouts that didn't work before. It was my nutrition that was holding me back! Before
I started the program, I suspected this to be the case, but I was
amazed at the degree to which good nutrition affected my results! All
of this and I'm just in the Conditioning Phase! When it was time for
the Fat Burning Phase I sat down with Bart and made a plan to hit my
goal the day of the Mile High Natural Bodybuilding Show. The pounds
started to come off 2lbs a week. Every morning I was excited to get up and see if the scale changed. The
Mile High Natural Bodybuilding Show was here before I knew it, and it
was the easiest show to get ready for. I had nutrition plan and didn't
have to rely on guessing or using rumors as fact. It
paid off, and I won the lifetime drug-free class, the overall, and my
open class as well. I was in the best shape of my life; I didn't change
my workouts; the only thing I did differently this time was my
nutrition plan. After
the show Bart told me I should consider the Colorado state show; he
thought I could do well there. I listened to Bart and set a new goal
and stayed in the Fat Burning Phase for a few more weeks. This time we
timed the carbohydrates right, and I became the first lifetime drug
free bodybuilder to win the Overall at the state show. After the big day I ate whatever I wanted, but after a week, I felt tired! Bart explained that I needed to take several weeks and slowly increase my calories to recondition my metabolism. Back on the plan for me! Now if I don't plan meals a day ahead I feel lost and my body lets me know. I
never thought I could win a big show like that, but now I believe I can
reach any goal I set for myself. I realize that the core principals of
the process can extend to other areas of my life as well. If you have a goal, you have to make a plan! Not just any plan, but one based on the best in the business. Break up all the little steps that are required to a set of daily action items and stick to that plan. At the end of the process you will succeed every time! Back to the wall in the store: The
program worked for me as an athlete, bodybuilder and fitness
professional, but I am constantly amazed how well the program works for
"normal people" with normal goals. People, who want to lose body fat, tone up some muscle and find a lifestyle that is sustainable in the long run. I was one of Bart's "A" students, and I have always wanted to make a career in the fitness industry. Knowing this, Bart asked me to become part of his team and coach other students in their own physique transformation programs. I believe so much in Precision Fitness, the Personal Food Analyst and the methods that Bart teaches that I accepted immediately.
