Randy Has Come a Long Way Since the Days of Disco!

By Randy Featherston

When I was a 27 year old man I weighed 108 lbs. And I certainly didn’t feel much like a man. I had always been skinny and I remember looking at our high school football team roster when I was 17 and noticing that the smallest guy on the team was 140 lbs. From then on, I began to think of 140 lbs as “normal” and hoping that someday I could somehow reach that weight. But gaining weight for a skinny person is just as daunting a task as losing weight is for a fat person if you don’t know the secrets of physique transformation. Even many professional fitness experts have been fooled by the myths and lies that were passed on to them. The feelings of self-doubt and discouragement grow deeper with each cycle of a new hope and then crushed disappointment.

When I was 29 I was given a membership to a gym and I started lifting weights with no real hope of ever being able to weigh 140 lbs. Amazingly, I soon discovered the miracle of muscle. The weight training increased the seratonin levels in my brain and I began to just feel good about myself. My appetite picked up and I began to gain weight. Showing up at the gym an average of three days a week became a habit for me, and even though I didn’t always feel like working out, the consistency paid off ? 90% of life is just showing up!

Continuing this habit for about twenty years put more weight on me and I felt good about myself because gaining weight had always been a positive experience for me. But then, when I reached 174 lbs., I realized that I would look better and feel better if I kept the muscle and lost some body fat. Thus began my two year adventure of trying to achieve the coveted “six-pack abs”! With new hope swelling within me, I started a physique transformation challenge and tried to apply the principles these new friends taught me. This popular fitness supplement company taught me many good things. They had me measuring food portions and eating six small meals a day. They had me combining a protein with a carb at every meal and eating a lot more protein than I usually ate. They had me lifting weights with intensity and doing cardio in the morning on an empty stomach for the best fat burning results.

There was only one problem. As faithful as I was for two whole years, I was never able to achieve the body I had always dreamed about. By this time in my life I had found peace with God so I wasn’t obsessing over it , but I thought how great it would be to actually reach that goal of being “ripped”and strong that I had strived for all of my life! The more I learned and the harder I worked, the farther that prize seemed to elude me! Since I lost half muscle and half fat I just went from a large pear shape to a smaller pear shape! It was easy to lose weight, but the real challenge was to lose body fat while at the same time keeping all of the muscle and really reshaping myself.

Then, finally, at age 52, I discovered the secret key to physique transformation. In a magazine, I saw an advertisement for a computer website that made it as simple as following  a roadmap from Tyler, Texas to New York City. I went to www.physiquetransformation.com and read the free e-book, Secrets of a Professional Dieter. Reading about these 10 key secrets opened my eyes. I started the Personal Food Analyst game in the late fall of 2002. It took a couple of weeks playing with the computer to learn how to play the game, but I’m glad I stuck with it! The PFA made it almost impossible to fail ? and to do it with the foods that I chose to eat!

I began my first rotation on Oct. 21, 2002 at a bodyweight of 174 lbs. With 17% body fat, a 46 inch chest and a 34 inch waistline, I wondered if this would really work. After 10 weeks and 5 days (Jan. 4, 2003) I had lost 15 lbs of body fat and gained 2 lbs of muscle! My chest was 45 inches and my waistline was 31 inches. That Saturday morning when I hit 9% body fat, I had eaten plenty of food and slept in late while a friend of mine was out running! He had been working with a personal trainer for over a year and yet he could never get rid of his belly no matter how much he ran. I was burning more fat while I was asleep than he was while he was out running!

I took some time off to try and gain some more muscle, but I didn’t use the help of the PFA. After 2 ?? months I was back up to 15% body fat with a 45 ?? inch chest and a 33 inch waistline. One March 11, 2003 I weighed in at 167 ?? lbs and decided to do a second rotation on the PFA. By June 28, 2003 (15 weeks, 4 days later) I weighed 157 ?? and I was 6% body fat! While my waistline had shrunk to 30 inches, my chest had stayed at 45 ?? inches! That means that I had lost 15 ?? lbs of fat but gained 5 ?? lbs of muscle at the same time!

It’s a wonderful feeling to know that I have the secret of shaping my body any way that I want! And the most amazing thing is that I’m in much better shape at age 52 that I was at 27! It’s possible to actually grow younger when you follow the roadmap of the PFA!

Sincerely,

Randy Featherston
