About Hummingbird
My Fitness Leagues Groups: | East Texas Buddies - People who live in the East Texas area who are on a weight loss mission....or maybe a weight control path. Those who are Christ-centered and draw upon His strength to win the battle of the bulge! |
My Personal Bio:
I am a mother of two adult children and a registered nurse. I have fibromyalgia which makes it difficult to lose any weight, even though I have been working out for over 15 years. Hopefully, if this works for me it will encourage other family members to take care of themselves!
My Current Fitness Goals:
To persevere at learning this new way of eating, lose weight and get back to enjoying life...
Inspirational Quote or Message:
With God we will gain the victory, and He will trample down our enemies. Ps. 108:13 NIV
You're blessed when you've worked up a good appetite for God. He's food and drink in the best meal you'll ever eat. Matt.5:6 MSG

Preparing for FB-need info
I just read RLJ's blog entry about her first day of fat burning. Is there an article somewhere I can read to get more of an idea of what to expect and how to deal with at least the first week of fat burning? If not can someone who has been there please give details or examples of how their first week went? I am in my 3 week of conditioning and need to be able to think about choices of food and strategies for success. Thank you to all who respond.

There is a file posted in the file section of the Yahoo support site that tells you how to plan for the first day of fat burning. Your calories will drop from the last day of conditioning 800 calories but the protein grams will remain the same. Each day you will be given 200 more calories until Friday where it drops back to Mondays levels. Your ratio changes everyday and low days can be very restrictive. I always plan my high days to have something I really like so I don't feel deprived on the low days. Lora

How many weeks?
I am not sure where to look to see how many weeks I have in each different phase. My analysis states says " You are now in the conditioning phase, in the next 4 weeks..." then it says "If you keep on track, by July 27 you will be looking at a new you." So from this can I deduce that conditioning will be four weeks and the rest fat burning? If so this puts me right in the middle of fat burning when I have to be out of town in May. I am discouraged...

It is not impossible to travel on fat burning, I just discourage people to do traveling the first week because it is such an adjustment. You did not say if you were seeing family, vacationing or traveling for business, because each has it's own obstacles to overcome. Also matters if you are flying or driving. I am not sure if there is travel tips in the Yahoo support site file section, but I know traveling has been discussed in the archived messages. Some people have traveled extensively for business all over the world and completed the program - it is just an exercise in problem solving. Lora

menopausal and emotional
This is my second week of conditioning. I am doing well, low 90's on my daily menus. Thankfully not spending the 5-6 hours a day at the computer this week like my first week. :)
I have been reading other blogs about the weight coming off oh so slowly during fat burning...well, that is very discouraging to hear. I have been menopausal for two years and it stinks!!! Been working out for over 15 years and wondered why I couldn't lose the weight the past four years. Got to the point where I almost quit eating...until I found this website! I need to stay optimistic and take one day at a time. My emotions fluctuate up and down (a lot like PMS in my younger days) and sometimes it's all I can do to not go off the deep end. Has anyone else out there felt like you were going crazy? It's nice to know that I am not the only one with these problems. Also, I need to go out of town in May, for four days, and will be in fat
burning at the time. I am so scared about messing up my phase. Can someone give me some encouragement regarding what I need to watch out for...Thanks, and thanks for allowing my to vent some of my thoughts. Suzanne

You didn't say how long conditioning is for you. Be sure and get some resistance training in - it sounds like you are but many women only do cardio and think they are working out. If you are scheduled to start fat burning about the time you are ready for the trip, I would encourage you to fake flunk to keep yourself in conditioning until you get back. It will be easier to travel in conditioning than in fat burning. Plan your meals ahead of time as much as possible and bring protein drinks and tuna and stuff to eat on your own.

Suzanne, I am a little short on time right now to offer many comments, but with God's help, know that you CAN do this, but it WILL take time! Maybe you can click on my slow loading profile and read my journey and also the comment I made to nonna this morning. Blessings! ~Maxine~

New day for old dog
I just signed up for my free trial today. I am trying to navigate the website, which is not easy because I'm not computer savy...Can an old dog still learn new tricks when it comes to this site. I am sure going to try. I just don't want to roll over and play dead! :)

The PFA has a steep learning curve, but anyone can learn it. We are here to help so ask questions when you need. At the top of the screen is a link to a FAQ page that is very helpful and be sure to read the ebook several times. Listen to the podcasts and play around in the different screens to learn where everything is. Best wishes and here's to success. Lora
